Re: Surefire G2

Because its a polymer it cant transfer heat well at all. A high powered over 1A drop in will most likily result in overheating after a few minutes of use.

Surely someone will have already done this mod and be of more assistance. But thats the main reason why its not recommended.

How about swapping the head with a Tan Surefire KX4? 120 lumens and factory quality keep the P60 head in the drawer or sell it. Its a nice upgrade i have a cpl on my older G2's and am very happy with them. i use the high power drop-ins in my C2's

You can use a lower powered drop-in just fine, such as a Malkoff M61L or LL. You can obviously run it longer with the LL. The L version should be fine, but running it say 2-3 hours straight MAY decrease the over-all life of the led, which, considering the life of an LED to begin with, isn't much.

I've edited your thread to improve the title (there's no need to be cryptic!), and removed the hotlinked image.

If you find heat a problem you can buy an aluminum head. Problem solved.
