I dont have the equipment to machine aluminum. I was wandering if any body has used lead to make a heat sink. Its readily availabe and can easily be machined with a dremel tool.
my opinion is that it is a horrible material to use. it has a lower thermal conductivity (35 where as aluminum is 230 and copper is 400), it has a lower volumetric heat capacity (so it warms up faster), and it is very dense (a lead HS will weigh 4 times that of an aluminum HS).
