Well this is my first post, I have been reading and searching around for answers.... If this is not the correct place to post this please let me know and I will post it in the appropriate area.

I purchased this used from a reputable seller on a local gun board. I like the light but am a bit puzzled with its origin. Is it possible this is issued gear from the military?

It has the M93 latch
P60 bulb
what appears to be a Flat Dark Earth factory finish
Black push button/tail switch
IR filter (not pictured)

The number under the surefire logo is a374067. It is a quality light and I do not suspect it to be chicom crap. Help me ID this light!
I called surefire today and was told the M951 was never offered in TAN with this config... I did not have the serial number with me today when I called..

That looks like a M952 - but Size15 is the subject matter expert.

As for US military issue - maybe. It's not mass issue, for certain but it's easy enough to believe individual units purchased and issued the gear out.

That's an M951. The M952 had the thumb screws, where as the M951 has the throw lever, IIRC? Looks like an army guy put a custom paint job on it, or it may have been custom assembled for some Special Forces units, as far as the finish/paint job.

Looks like a homemade paint job but how do you explain the surefire logo? Is it recessed or something?

looks to me like you have M952XM07 / FM63KIT and it is available in desert tan.

As mentioned, its a Desert Sand (-TN) version of the M952-KIT01 (M952XM07 + FM63).
If you order enough of certain model you can have it in pretty much whatever colour you want.

More commonly issued now is the M952V-TN because it doesn't need an IR BeamFilter. Given the demand for WeaponLights in Desert Sand SureFire now offers a number of models as standard options in -TN as well as HA or Black HA.
