Well, my Pelican M6 was torn up pretty bad from field use, and is now being repurposed, so I broke it all down, blasted it with ALOX, and refinished it in Alumahyde. Went back together just fine, although it appears as though I screwed something up. The light is now on all the time, and pressing the tailcap turns it off, but only momentarily.

Did I break the switch?

Thanks

Sorry I can't help, but this same thing happened to two of my old Tektite twisty flashlights, where they'll be on indefinitely. Initial tests indicate that the flashlight needed to be cleaned properly (corrosion and/or leaked battery acid buildup). I'm still seeing if I can get mine back, but I think the contacts are just worn out.
