good move on the V3. I got mine last week. Its a big light. obviuosly the 2 18650 cells end to end add legnth. I may EDC during daytimime operations using one cell. I got my V3 at going gear.com, nice people good service.

IMHO yes. you should also notice the size with 2 18650 tubes; its built like a tank and is large. (not as large as the olight SR 51 or 90 however). you may want to get the holster. Im planning now on using it as a one or a two cell light. after further review.... NO its a 2 cell light

Yes, Sadly looks like the $129 deal is over though. I checked Battery Junction who I saw was the only distributor to sell the Cat at $129 is now at $149 with all the others. Looks like my window of opportunity just closed. :ironic:

Greets. One cell will only be 3.7V If you want the full potential in the "short" carry you can use RCR123's with some tube rattle or attain 18340's and you will have longer run time.

Thanks again!!!

Two CR's will give you 6V .

TWO 18340 OR RCR123's (16340's ) will be 2 X 3.7V and will give you the same voltage as the two 18650's .

This will be full output. Yes

EDIT to add. 18340's are the same length as a RCR123's (16340's) but FAT like the 18650's so there will be no tube rattle as well as some extra run time on the short set up.

Yes to 2 X RCR123's. also referred to as 16340's

The 18340's will have longer run time as the cells are fatter they hold more juice.

And pleasure !

Nope

CR123 =3V

RCR123 =3.7V - 4.2 V on full charge

X 2 for for total voltage.

2 X RCR123 will render same output as your 2 X 18650 set up as 18650's are 3.7V - 4.2 on full charge.

I think you're going to be very happy with your purchase. The V3's a real burner at full power and I'm extremely pleased with the tint and color temp of the neutral white emitter.

I got mine about a month ago and really love it! I didn't buy the older versions because I need a low setting included as the V3 has. I think it's an amazing light, you should be very happy. I run it with 2 AW 18650/2900's.

My V3 runs great on 2 CR 123s When I try RCRs it powers up ok and goes to the lower modes OK THEN when I go from lower mode turning head to turbo/high the light goes DEAD.

Then after a few seconds (10 -20) it turns on when activated and goes into all modes when asked then from strobe to high back to strobe, the light goes DEAD again and again!

When I run on 2 CR 123s the light works great but on RCRs it is not reliable at all. I'll try another set of RCRs if that doesn't work then I'll call going gear and it's going back.
ALL other operations are OK such as 2 18650, and even a dim single 18650. Cr123s work but RCRs are a potential issue.

Ive swapped rcrs and it still malfunctions on the lower modes. Time to call goinggear.com ASAP!

Taken from SWelfbuilts reveiew on the V3

As with many lights of this class, the light is heavily driven on Max, so I recommend you run it sparingly in this mode. Note the V3 has a built-in thermal cut-off sensor, which is a wise safety feature. But as before, 2xRCR should not be used on Max due to high discharge rate - unless you use IMR cells that can handle the current drain. 2xCR123A is now safe to use at all output levels on the V3, thanks to lower drive levels (this was not the case on the earlier V2 lights, where 2xCR123A was driven too hard on max).
