I just harvested 8 18650s out of my stepsons dead laptop battery and i tried them out in my jetbeam tcr3 and they work great!! Anyway I dont wanna EDC my shelf queen. I am looking for a GOOD flashlight and i NEED these features, I want a good thrower, compact size, also prefer built in safety as my batteries are non protected. Also want compatiblity with CR123 in case im in a pinch.. must be waterproof like my quark AA. I saw zebralight makes one. does 4sevens? thanks.

Zebralight does make two 18650 light's, the SC60 and SC600 but they do not accept CR123. You have 8 18650 so I would suggest you use those in a pinch and get the SC600. Seriously their is really no advantage using primary's if you have that many 18650's, the SC600 is an amazing light and will run forever.

The SC60 is great as well if you prefer to spend a little less but it's just slightly smaller and far less bright. If you still prefer a 18650/CR123 light their are plenty of them but not many that I would consider small enough to EDC in a pocket, the Fenix PD31 would be a pretty good choice.

... but they do not accept CR123...

There's a youtube video of someone with their Zebralight SC600. The person in the video was running it with 2xCR123 batteries. Apparently, while not supported, it still works at that voltage.

The light working and the light tuning on for a few seconds is two different things, it's highly recommend from ZL that you not do that.

Is it wise to use 18650s from a dead laptop battery? If the 18650s are in bad shape you might deep discharge them by accident. I'd never use worn-out, unprotected 18650s for anything, not even in a light with discharge protection, because you never know if the protection works the way it's supposed to.

I have a SC600 myself and the protection circuit does work. Although someone had mentioned that there is a utube of 2 CR123 batteries being used it is not recommended by the manufacturer. You mentioned "I just harvested 8 18650s out of my stepsons dead laptop battery" if the battery is dead why would you take a chance like that on a brand new torch.

I am new to the 18650 batteries and am probably over cautious but that is ringing alarm bells in my head.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's overcautious when using Li-Ion grenades ... ehrm ... batteries.

When it drops from 750 it goes to 500 and I have a Quark AA XP-G but I have not compared throw between them, even with the Quark running 14500 I expect the SC600 to win out.

I have an Olight M20 which will use either 18650 or 2 x cr 123. Very comfy in the hand and throws a reasonable beam. Jetbeam RRT 2 would be an equivalent. Here's an interesting look at the M20!

What about the new Thrunite Scorpion v2. Same output as the new eagletac but also has polarity protection. I just ordered mine. Anyone here own one?

EagleTac T20C2 or O Light M20? at 700 lumens the T20C2 looks good. I see the listing of 300lumens :thinking:but not the 700 lumen version. I was about to get the M20 so that T20C2 looks real tempting.

I have the eagle tac t20c2 720 lumen purchased at eagletac usa.
Has both good spill and throw. I would say right between my fenix tk41 and my jetbeam rrt-0
