first this light puts out a wall of light. because of sheer brightness it does throw somewhat. I can't wait for a selfbuilt review.

I assume that a 17670 lion would be the best for runtime so 2 rcrs would not have an advantage in brightness because the light uses a buck circuit?

That is correct more volts through the same driver generally means more light. ref. aa vs. 14500

huh?
assuming of course the AA light can handle a 14500 otherwise you have :poof:

The P20C2 is a CR123 based light that can handle up to 9volts...
AFAIK any voltage above 4.2v is burned off as heat...
2xCR123 = 6v
2xR123/16340 = 8.4v
1x17650 = 4.2v

The new ET 720 Lumen HO modules run slightly less bright on 4.2v than they do at 6+v (6v or 8.4v shows no output difference when I measure with AEMC CA813 light meter, but light does get hotter quicker)

The primary advantage of using 17670 over R123/16340 is 2-3x runtime... :shrug:

Cheers

If I were to get the s2 module would the throw be any better? I have the scorpion v2 which actually throws very well for a small head. I guess now with the emitters getting larger the days of pocket throwers are gone.

yes, the S2 has a bit more LUX than the XM-L in these small reflectors.

720 lumens with large center spot XM-L has least amount of LUX
vs
500 lumens with smaller brighter center spot with S2 has almost same LUX as XR-E R2

Cheers
