My area code is 47102. I have been checking Wal-Mart the last few days, and Lowe's along with Home Depot. I can't find a 5,000 BTU A/C anywhere. They only have like 8,000, 12,000, and 18,000 units. I can't spend 200-300 bucks on one right now. I seen a 5,000 btu unit for $98.00 at one of my local Wal-Marts but it has been out of stock for the last few days...

Also I would rather drive an hour or 2 than spend an extra 100 bucks because my car gets pretty good gas mileage.

Please help.

Thanks

The cheapest one I can find now is at my local Lowe's, it's 195. Ugg and it's big enough to cool a room 3 times my room's size. I'm on vacation for the next 2 weeks hope I can find one...

Have you tried any of your larger supermarkets or warehouse stores like Costco? In Massachusetts, some of our supermarkets carry the 5000 btu $100 units and my local Costco always has pallets of air conditioners. It may be worth calling around. Good luck.:)

Craigslist is probably going to be your best bet for a cheapo unit.

My AC went out last summer and I just asked arround at work (450 employees) and about 5 people offered to lend me one for free.
