Alright....lumens, lux, safe battery chemistry, nice tint (from what I've read). You KNOW I WANT IT! I'm trying to talk myself into it but I don't camp, sail, ski, nor rescue. I live in the woods. What am I going to do with a TK70 until the zombie apocalypse?

You NEED IT for the same reason I "needed" a SR90. Beacause they are neato, and really cool to show your friends.

Intergalactic signaling?
Now, you live in the woods. Where would be a better place than to be abducted by aliens. You know their craft has been hovering over your house at night. When they hit you with the bright beam from the mother ship, just before you start to float through the ceiling, hit them back with the TK70. Should have those aleins sphincters puckering and they leave you alone worried about getting probed themselves.

Might be hard to use this justification with the wife though.

Want is more important than need.

Well it would make a great conversation piece if guests come by. Not to mention if univited guests come creeping about the light would probably get the first and last word in. Hey if it turns out it's not for you there's always the marketplace. One things for sure at this point, you won't know if it's for you or not unless you get it.

Zombie apocalypse...!!!lol!!!!
Other than that, why did you buy so many other flashlights?Do you need all of them? You can do your job with just one in most cases.
But just because a flashaholic can never live with just one or two or three and you always need the best, you have to buy it!

I'm waiting for an output graph with primaries. D cells are so cheap if it gives decent output for at least 30 minutes.....

If I was getting it, I would go ahead and spend the extra money on 8 D cells (gotta run a set and charge a set IMO) but I do have the Maha 808M charger waiting for that.

Naturally you don't 'need' it and probably won't have a use for it. This sort of light is probably bought more because it is 'cool' as others have said. I think it is cool too but I won't be getting one because I have a TrustFire X6 which I think looks even 'cooler' and weighs much less since it runs on 3 x 18650s. I also think the beam pattern of the SST-90 is 'nicer' and more focussed than three x XML.

But for a big light that runs on VERY standard batteries, this has to be it so far.

For turning it on a couple of minutes to pwnz anyone who thinks they have a bright LED flashlight, then you put it back in your truck... what else do you want?

To get that "masochistic" CPF-style stare from people when you tell people you just spent more than 200 bucks on a flashlight.

But really, it's for the zombie apocalypse. :sssh:

I thought the same with my 65W HID (see here http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?309971-My-First-HID-65W-45W-Xeccon-from-Ebay)

Big stupidly bright lights are immense fun, but admittedly not very practical, especially those with specialised battery packs so after one hour of use you have 16 hours charging. I use mine for lamping (hunting at night) and for shining at things. It will turn a night time back garden into a day lit scene with such power any intruder won't know what the F just happened....then you can hit them with it :)

You ask 'What will I use a TK70 for?", but after your first couple of good torches, what will you use the rest for? Just because....no further reason required :)

Here's my reasoning:

I've been finding a lot of dog poop on my lawn and have been thinking of getting a trail camera to ID the perpetrator. The camera I'm interested in uses 4xD batteries. I have a hobby charger and Maha 808 but no D batteries so I was going to just use AA-to-D adapters for the camera. But if I were to get NiMH D cells I would have to have some other device that uses them. Enter the TK-70.
