C9000 maha AAA charging question

Hi like many others clarify I'm new to all this and I have already tried to find the answer to my question but have had no success. Anyway my question is if I have aaa eneloops (4utga)and a c9000 maha what rate will have to charge them at to charge them within 2hrs(once flat)? I know ppl have mentioned to charge at a certain % of the capacity ( found nothing on the aaa%)but no mention on Charge times at certain charge rates. Also would charging aaa in 2 hours be a bad thing or is that refured to as "rapid charging" which I have heard nothing but bad things about.apologies for any errors

eneloop AAA have a capacity of ~750-800mah. If you want to charge them in two hours, you divide the capacity by two... meaning you charge them at ~400ma.

Rapid charge is not necessarily a bad thing, so long as you don't charge it at too high of a rate. For a 'smart charger' to work properly, it can't be charged too slowly. Reason being, one of the ways it detects when to stop charging is detecting a change and drop in voltage when the battery is full (referred to as delta-V). If the charge rate is too low, the charger can have trouble detecting this change in voltage and may overcharge the battery.

According to the c9000 manual the recommended charge rate for you batteries is 0.3C to 1.0C (where C refers to the capacity or 'mah' rating of your battery ). I prefer to charge on the the lower side of things, and usually charge around 0.3C-0.5C. If I really need my batteries fast, I'll charge at 1.0C.

The recommended charging current is 0.5C, or 0.5 times the battery capacity. The recommended discharging current is 0.25C, or 0.25C times the battery capacity. Here are some settings for common batteries:


2700mAh Charge: 1300mA Discharge: 700mA

2650mAh Charge: 1300mA Discharge: 700mA

2500mAh Charge: 1200mA Discharge: 600mA

2300mAh Charge: 1100mA Discharge: 600mA

2200mAh Charge: 1100mA Discharge: 600mA

2100mAh Charge: 1000mA Discharge: 500mA

2000mAh Charge: 1000mA Discharge: 500mA

1000mAh Charge: 500mA Discharge: 200mA

900mAh Charge: 400mA Discharge: 200mA

850mAh Charge: 400mA Discharge: 200mA

800mAh Charge: 400mA Discharge: 200mA

700mAh Charge: 300mA Discharge: 200mA

650mAh Charge: 300mA Discharge: 200mA

600mAh Charge: 300mA Discharge: 200mA

As stated by the previous poster, with your AAA eneloops, a 400 mA charge will be done in about 2 hours, give or take about quarter of an hour.

Thanks hazna for your speedy rehankyhanks also for the detailed answer it helped me understand it all.
Would it be safe to charge them in my case at 400mah for 2hours on the c9000 without damaging the batteries cycle life? Also does charging them at 1.0c every so often do any damage?

Everything you do (and don't do) damages your batteries; some things just damage them a lot less and help them last longer or perform better than they would otherwise.

As the others have said, a 400mA charge rate on the C9000 for AAA Eneloops is fine, and a lot better for the cells than most common charging procedures.
