I did compare them in a beamshot:

This is one of the earlier models of the DEFT (The first one with two lenses).

HKJ, beautiful photos - can you please comment on what you see?

I take it that the DEFT is slightly brighter in the centre by a nose??? By a small amount that is.
Because the XR-E may have a slightly higher surface brightness than the Luminus SST-90 depending on whether it is the 1mmx1mm die model, or the 0.9mmx0.9mm die model.
The SR-90 has a huge hotspot and a vast lateral spill...

According to my lux measurements (See beamshot) the DEFT is brighter.

It is not enough to look at surface brightness of the emitter, the optic does also play a role.

For most purposes I prefer a light with some spill (The DEFT has none).

HKJ, do you have a similar beam shot at the same location for either a: RRT-3, M2S, Et M3C4 XM-L, Thrunite Catapult V3 XM-L, or Olight M3X XM-L, for comparison purposes, because the SR-90 is impractical to lug around?

I have many comparisons beamshots with most of the lights you list and would suggest you check my website for them. Only beamshots in the same shoot can be directly compared, the different shoots can have slightly different distance and different exposures

I dont get this comparison - The OMG DEFT makes a mega thrower from a 250 lumen LED emitter such as an R2

The SR90 is a huge Output monster and has a balance between throw and flood.

I still reckon the DEFT will hold good account of itself but the SR90 is going to chuck out so much light, it would be difficult to read it right as the spill is going to give a distorted view.

The DEFT is an excellent light and runs on 4 x eneloops for hours. I have not yet been able to get this light to run out and I use it a lot for hunting. It just seems to go in for ever. You wont be saying that about the SR90 :). And hoe does the cost of 4 eneloope compare to an SR90 rear end..................

The SR-90 is oversized with six 18650's @ 6 x 2200 mAH x 3.7V = 48840, giving the SR-90 a huge edge.
The SR-90 is more than 1 foot long and weighs more than 1.5 kg.

Yes, the OmgLumens DEFT with 4 Eneloops @ 1.2 V x 4 x 2000 mAH = 9600, should have been compared to either a:
1) twin 18650 @ 3.7 x 2 x 2200 = 16280,
2) or even a single 18650 @ 3.7V x 2200 mAH = 8140;
then it would be a more fair comparison.

Nevertheless, it's horses for courses any way.
Each to their own.
Like looman says, the DEFT is a mega-thrower for specialist long distance uses like hunting etc, while the SR-90 has a balance of flood/throw for general all round use.
