I noticed this today while checking out Cabela's choice in flashlights. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Camping/Lights/Flashlights|/pc/104795280/c/104743080/sc/104332680/Cabelas-XPG8482-N-Series-LED-Flashlights/714890.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fcamping-lights-flashlights%2F_%2FN-1100700%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104332680%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104794380%253Bcat104743080&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104794380%3Bcat104743080%3Bcat104332680

It makes me feel good to see them promoting the warm/high CRI characteristics in LED lights. Maybe we'll see more mainstream advertising, with a gain in popularity for the warmer tints. Just thought I'd pass this along to other's here. I hope to see a day that when any new light comes out, we can order the tint we want for it.

Thanks for the link SixM. Yes, I'm glad to see more manufacturers paying attention to the quality of the light in addition to the quantity, and while I wouldn't call a CRI of 80 exactly "high", it's still progress.

It is good to see warmer tints at a mainstream retailer. I think tint/CRI will be a big factor as more and more consumers use LEDs for flashlights and other lighting.I have also seen a camping lantern offering warmer tint at a local sporting goods store.I don't remember the exact brand for sure but it was a well known name in camping equipment.

Personally I hope that's where the progress will be with LED technology - I rarely use the full brightness modes (except for showing off) so would willingly trade lumens for tint!

Does that really use an xp-g? or is it really just a naming coincidence?
The reviews go back to April of 2009, so is this an xp-e.

I don't see it as an Elzetta, but it could be. I also doubt that it has a Cree XP-G in it unless it is really underdriven. I would say the use of XPG is just a coincidence, maybe on purpose maybe not as it looks like the light was around before the Cree XP-G was.
