hi,
for quite some time I stopped building/upgrading light engines, because I have heavy problems with focusing XP-G / XM-L.
With the XR-E it simply was: placing the reflector onto the metal ring --> perfect in focus.

Anyone knows, if these more efficient emitter plates for the newer led also are implantet into XR-E and thus having them up to date?
Or is this led simply killed by not doing so?

Check out crees' website. There are xpe 90cri and similar available - they have updated them to xpg efficiency, while keeping smaller die size.

I think the XR-E is done, yellow. Cree did go back and update the XP-E line-up with high CRI phosphor, but that's as far back as they went in their product lineup.

A crying shame too, because a couple of the lights I love most use an XR-E. If I ever find out what tint bin the Fenix TK20 used, I'll buy a number of those emitters - nicest tint Cree ever put out imo.

I mentioned xpe because it's the closest thing that has been upgraded, as calipsoii pointed out.
