Just saw the announcement on Facebook. Now I am going to go to their website to drool a little bit.

Who thinks they will get one?

Oooh! I didn't know it was going to hit this soon! Sweet. Time to go look and the pretty pictures.

edit: Love the tailcap selection ring! Wonder if it takes 18650's or just CR123A and RCR123A's.

hmm. It says it will run on six rcr123a cells but then lists the operating voltage at 4.5V - 8.4V. six rcr123a = 25.2V when fresh off the charger (assuming they are in series).

Runs on high for only 35min and will not use 18650 cells? Can any of this be correct?

Must be in 2s3p configuration.

Looks like the S18 isn't for me but I'm even more curious now why my X10 has to have it's momentary twisty UI?

I really want one of these, but the batteries don't work for me. Perhaps an alternative battery arrangement is in the works.

Not for me. 6 x CR123 is too expensive to run, and 6 x RCR is too dangerous if your batteries are not sharing an equal charge. And the run time is extremely short. I was expecting it to run on either 3 x 18650 or 2 x 26650.

S18 is out!!!

Just got an email announcing the release of the Maelstrom S18... Funny because I'm close to pulling the trigger on the RRT-3. The S18 is a bit cheaper but I'd have to buy 6 RCR123"s because I don't want to burn up primaries. Website says the output is 1200 OTF lumens, whereas the RRT-3 I believe estimates OTF at around 850.

I wonder if there is a huge difference to the eye between these two, which would you lean towards? Realizing there is limited info and no bra shots of the S18 that I'm aware of.

Yeah, I'm afraid that any thoughts I may have had of waiting for this light to be released with a turbo head have been pushed aside by the restrictive list of compatible batteries.
