Probably not, unless using the momentary switch. I believe the QTC pill takes the place of the raised negative contact. No pill= no contact.

The Key Ring style battery compartment still is tapped for the negative
battery contact screw. We do not include them as they would more than
likely get lost over time. As for the Lug and Pocket styles they would
require a top hat or stepped diameter washer in the bottom of the compartment
to make contact between the battery and the bottom of the compartment.
A small magnet on the bottom the battery would also work. The QTC pill
has been designed to work with the QTC material removed from the pill.

Thank you Curt R! And if I may, how would a momentary switch work with a QTC? (Thanks moderator. Will do next time.)

The momentary switch compresses the QTC pill towards the battery.
Turning the head compresses the QTC pill towards the bottom of the
battery compartment.

So the momentary switch would ALSO ramp up like twisty? Just guessing here. What actually would be the behavior of the LED?
Edit: I suspect fine control goes out the window with momentary. Would a negative contact screw be needed if replacing keyring with a momentary switch?
Full blast with momentary, fine control at the head?

Just found the video demo of momentary with QTC by Death's Head. Very impressive.

And here I was quite impressed with the QTC twisty!
Edit: QTC twisty without momentary switch that is.
