Which is better, im thinking of purchasing 1 of them for my fenix headband and i was wondering which one is better, i know that the Ld10 is more expensive and not as bright as the ld15, however the LD 15 is not as ergonomically good
Hello.
I don't own the Fenix LD15, but the LD10+ (Cree XR-E) has been my EDC for quite a few months.
I'd question its usefulness for your purposes, because it's quite "throw-y" despite its small size. Of course the newer XP-G version would be significantly floodier, but I'm afraid you'd still need a diffuser. Also, it's quite big and the headband could feel unbalanced. Finally, it has no Neutral White edition, which would provide better color rendering.
Have a look at the various Quark MiNi models (from 4sevens), they are much smaller, lighter and floodier. Be warned though that their construction quality and reliability is nowhere near the LD10.
If you insist on choosing between the two, first decide whether you prefer a clicky or a twisty interface. But a real headlamp would be
far better.
Don't get me wrong, I love the LD10, I'm just not sure that it would be suitable for dedicated headband usage. If you plan on also using it as an extremely reliable and efficient pocket light, then go ahead and buy it; you won't regret it.
