 Just the other day I saw this new Surefire light on the Brightguy web site. It's the SureFire M6LT Guardian @ 900 lumen runing on 6 primary 123a cells. Any one of you interested in this new light @ $575?

That TIR optic and fresnel lens combo produces an amazing spot of light from what I've seen in beamshot pics.
I don't know why any other manufacturer isn't using it. It's the only setup I've seen that makes the XML worth it IMHO.
The reflectors used for the XML have too much bright flood and in turn weak throw which to me is not a very efficient use of light in practical use.

There is a good discussion on the M6LT here,:

The throw of TIR will not be longer than the reflector of same size. The difference is: TIR focus nearly all light into hot spot, it has a larger hotspot and nearly no spill, while reflector has a smaller spot and much spill.
