Is there already a post here somewhere that will tell me about which single 18650 and also which AA (2 battery) lights have the longest throw?

If not, which lights would you recommend in these categories? I'm new here and I'm sorry if I just asked a question that has been beat to death.

One of the best throwing AA lights around right now is a Dereelight Javelin. It's P60 compatible so you can put other modules in it, but they most likely won't throw like the stock Javelin module does. Dereelight also makes other P60 modules you can use too, but I don't have any experience with them, so I can't comment if they throw as well as the one you get when you buy the Javelin as a complete light.

It also has an optional extender tube too, so you can go with 3xAA for extended run times.

Solarforce MPP-1 is about as good as you can get for throwy 1x18650. DBS and Javelin are better all-around lights but if you're looking for throw MPP-1 is from different planet compared to those.

+1 on the Solarforce Masterpiece Pro-1. For a single 18650 light, it throws about as good as you can get and its a lot cheaper than most of the stuff.

FYI, the Solarforce Masterpiece Pro 1 requires TWO 18650 cells for maximum output and throw. He asked for a single 18650 light.

To the op, what kind of throw do you want? The Pro 1 with 2x 18650 cells does throw well but it is a tiny 220 OTF lumen pencil thin beam. I have an XML light (3C Mag body) that out throws it and has a huge hotspot, massive spill, and 1000 lumens. I assume since you asked for a single 18650 light you don't want something that big? What about 26650 lights?

For the 18650 size battery the Deft EDC which has 40,000 lux. Do a search for Deft EDC.....Robert.

Solarforce Masterpiece Pro-1 can be run with 1 or 2 18650 cells. Solarforce states that outputs are 275 lumens for 2x 18650 and 200 lumens for 1x 18650. I can not comment what actual OTF lumens are. But if you compare 3C Mag for 1x 18650 body with MPP-1 you're talking about two lights with VERY different size and weight... I compared MPP-1 to Dereelight Javelin and DBS v3 and stated that MPP-1 has better throw compared to them. And yes mag-85 or Olight SR-90 do out-throw MPP-1, though they do not run with 1x18650 or 2xAA.

Someone on cpf tested the Eagletac p100a2 and only measured 5,150 lux at 1 meter, sounds like it's mainly for flood. The Dereelight javelin with smo reflector and Cree XR-E R2 module was measured at around 10,000 lux

The Javelin is nice but the balance of flood to throw gets uneven to me favoring throw plus the big head and overall a bigger light. Not sure which drop-in but the XP-E R3 looks nice.

It was measured 5,150 Lux back in Mar 10, 2009 using a Cree XPE Q5. It has an R2 now. Having ownded nothing but AA lights for throwers experinece the P100A2 has of the best if not the best throw to flood balance. The Dereelight Javelin 2nd. Unless you want all throw.

They also measured the P20A2 Mark 1 at 7510 Lux yet my P100A2 (XP-E R2) hotspot can be seen brighter in the hotspot of my P20A2 Mark 1(7510 Lux)

So now you have an idea of the P100A2 R2 Lux. I could not find any Lux on the XP-E R2 taken but I have seen it once forgot where though. If I recall correctly, above 7,400Lux.

Javaelin: Throws farther, Eagletac is second. Want to see the XP-E R3 Model.
I much prefer the Eagletac. Has great throw, and flood balance. (XP-E R2)

You are correct, I do not own one. To you it may have long throw but it's hardly the longest, 3,000 lux is a big difference. I have higher expectations than most when it comes to throw
