In my case, I would carry a spare battery in it for camping or hiking (more space left for AA's and lithiums in my plastic cases). The material is not very important to me as it would stay in the backpack. I don't mind if it's a separate item later down the line.

yeah I probably would carry it because the topedos runtime on high is short so I wouldn't edc it with out a back up light or an extra battery (or both). If someone has a light in their pocket they could throw the batt holder on their keychain on visa versa. A endcap accessory would also protect the extra body from crap gettin inside.

+1 on a seperate thing for later in regards to the spare battery carrier cap...

nothing to add to the price of the light currently!

I'd rather have the smoothest beam possible, not the throwiest. Just my opinion.

    Smooth beam . . . +1

Ahghhhh, that is the beauty of LOP and XM-L combination. I still would like to see the comparison beam shots. Artifacts in a beam are ultra annoying to me, more so than tint, floodiness, or reach.

X2. The smoother the beam the better IMHO. I also like the battery holder idea.

I see an optional choice being the most sensible as I'm another who
would probably end up tossing it into a box along with other parts.

Love smoothly blended beam patterns! L0P for me too (not the Fenix one though, that was ages ago...)

Exactly what i've thought, even on keychain or not. If you find a way to do this, i guess it'll be able to cap both body, so you can protect as well the spare battery as the depleted one when switched.
Ideally, the cap will be the same finish as the body in my mind.

All my spare cells are in plastic containers in the side pouch of my bag, and carrying a spare cell on my keychain or even in my pocket would be impractical for me in almost all situations. I'm not trying to tell you not to make it, just that it wouldn't be useful to me. If it's sold as an accessory, I won't buy it, and if it's included in the purchase of the Torpedo, it will go in my junk box along with all my spare o-rings and switches, etc. If it's included with the purchase of the Torpedo and increases the price and/or production time, I would be slightly grumpy, but I would still get the Torpedo.
I don't mind if such a thing is proposed as an option, as i understand people with no use of it. They don't add a thing in the "junk box" and it keeps the price as low as possible for them.
My only concern is more about the availability of the option when i order the Torpedo, as i would prefer to avoid a later order/shipment just for an item like that.

Anyway, a great thanks to Tgwnn for his project, taking consideration of all our "silly ideas"/wishes and finding a way to realise them.

    Thanks for all the comments/feedback

I should let you know that there will be a place to keep the batteries and unused body, this is already accounted for (details at a later time).
The cap/portable holders, should be doable as an option, so will keep that in mind.
About ordering separately understood as well. If possible will try and time it with the Torp or if the end cap is available later,
I'll find a way to get it to you.

I have a few other new things Im working on too that I know you will probably need/want once you discover them so timing on postage could be then also?

The proto's were supposed to ship yesterday but Im still getting a 404 (not found) on the tracking number.
Will let you all know soon as I hear back though!

now it back to the mad scientist lab...

    Nuclear Powered Torpedo

    (a.k.a Trits....)

Looks like there is plenty of room for trits where kaichu mentioned between the tail fins.

They are protected by the torpedo tail fins and lanyard button in the center but coating them with a layer of epoxy would be a good idea to give them an extra layer of strength.
Very good visibility from both top and sides.

I simply held these in place using blu-tac for the photo.

p.s. these are untouched iPhone pics (even the dark ones)

Just wanted to say tgwnn this and your Core Ti look great and the trits would set the torch off perfectly.

I use GITD bands at the moment to allow me to find my torches at night so these look perfect.

I would prefer a OP reflector. Every XML with a smooth reflector I have seen so far has a darker colored center due to the color separation from the LED.

    Hi bltkmt,
Don't think I can offer the trits at this stage, sorry for any confusion, but just wanted to give you an idea of what/how it could work with trits.
Will let you know if that changes of course.

This is looking better and better!

Neutral with an LOP would be optimum, in my opinion. You're not going to get alot of throw anyway, so make the beam as smooth as possible.

    Thanks for the updates!

I'm interested in seeing the beamshots with a smooth reflector. If we have slightly more throw, I'd been keen, so long as the beam is not too disgusting. I'm gonna put in a vote for a cool white in the torpedo, give me MAX LUMENS for this one

Ok, Just had a few minutes.....

    Its bright

some quick pics, then gotta do some family stuff,
will try to post some a little later if the wine doesn't send me to sleep..

this is the 10250 body, lowish setting (I forget which one it was, too excited)
body is a little loose (not glued/potted) so I can open it up and inspect as needed.

some other non-finished things in terms of the circuits, but 4 modes are there,
    using 10440 & 10250....

This is a ROCKET on high!
    Beam is very smooth...

ok, gotta hit "Post" button then check this outside....
