I have a new 8X bought from the ASPI deal a few weeks ago. Whenever I take out the battery stick, a small round rubber disc falls out. It's a real pain to get back in straight. It sits between the battery and the momentary switch.

Anyone else have this problem. Any recommended fixes for this. I emailed Surefire and they just said that's the way it is, there is no good way to deal with it. I couldn't believe that was their answer

It's normal. I just throw it back inside and insert the battery...no problems yet.

But I have to admit, the 'Dano solution' is more 'elegant'.

Hmmm, quite unlike Surefire to have such a goofy setup. Oh well.

The email said it was required for actual operation on the 8X, but only used to prevent battery rattle on the 8AX and 8NX. I have an 8X, and if I leave it out it still works. Go figure.

I'll use the "Dano" method and not worry about it anymore.

Wellll...That's the way it is, it's a small cushion between the battery stick and the rubber membrane on the bottom of the light.

To put it in, invert the light body. Place the rubber thing on the negative side of the batt. stick, and then slide the light's body onto the stick.
