Hi,

http://www.maplin.co.uk/3w-rechargeable-tactical-led-torch-415752?c=froogle&u=415752&t=module

I've tried searching and manually gone through a lot of pages in this forum and I couldn't see anything relating to this, apologies if I missed it.

I haven't had an LED torch before and got a fairly cheap one which arrived today.

There are no instructions at all regarding initial use. I've seen product descriptions for other LED torches that have said if you insert the batteries with the polarity incorrect, it can cause severe damage. I have also seen information suggesting an initial charge for the batteries, roughly twice the usual charging time.

Any advice much appreciated (unless the advice is to buy a better torch :p), thanks in advance,

Aj

First of all you should read a few threads about Lithium cells and (cheap) chargers.
You just got a cheapo noname charger, with most likely unprotected 18650 cells that you want to use in a flashlight that has probably no over-discharge protection.
VERY BAD combo, especially if you´re new to LiIon cells.

My suggestion:
1.If you can, send the combo back
2.Read more about LiIon
3.Answer the questions of the catalogue
4.http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?263183-How-to-get-the-most-out-of-CPF

This way you´l get a much safer, more reliable, brighter, better quality light for about the same price.
