I have seen magnetic spacers I think intended to be used with Li-ion batteries in certain charging configurations. I am curious though if one of these could function in a Maelstrom G5/X7 as a buttontop on a flattop Li-ion battery. So as to fit into the reverse polarity protection feature on the head?

"Power: (1) 18650 or (2) CR123A batteries (18650 button-top cells only - e.g., only our 2200mAh 18650 works)"
The cell they link to is an AW 2200mAh button top.

My understanding is that it is because of the anti-reverse polarity feature that has raised edges around the head contact point to keep the flat, negative side of a cell from connecting. Selfbuilt's reviews of each light also mention that they are not compatible with higher capacity flat top cells. It is Interesting that your is? Has anyone heard of this? Are there different versions of the light?

For the version where flattops don't work, will a spacer work?
