I'd like to get a LED flashlight that puts out 1000 or more lumens. Decent runtime is a must so the smallest batteries I'd prefer would be 18650s. Bigger batteries would be nice since the barrel would be bigger too. Any suggestions?

Get one of the custom made maglites from our members here on the forum. No where near as big or bulky as the lights mentioned above and you'll get more light out put. Plus less exspensive.

NiteCore TM11 does 2,000 ANSI lumens. It takes four 18650's or eight CR123A's.

And it also happens to be the size of a 12-ounce soda can.

Just depends on the mod or drop in. Very few use 32650s. Not that easy to find them. Most use D/C NIMHs, 26650's, 18650's or AA in an adapter (Nimh or lion).

Quite a few true 1k plus out there. Just depends on how much you want to spend, how big and bright. And how long you want it to run.

The normal 2 D cell incand. flashlight being 200 lumens? I can't find this benchmark anywhere.

If you plot

price vs. lumen output
and
price vs. weight
and
price vs. MTBF

graphs you can see the outliers, both best buy and worst buy.
