I'm bored

I\'m bored

I'm stuck at work, less than 1/2 way though a 26 hour shift (yes you read that right). If all goes well, all I have to do is wait for an alarm that won't happen. Even if it does happen, I have to click 2 buttons on a pc. No one else around. On to of that I don't get paid OT

Well, at least I have a job

Interestingly enough, it seems that whenever I had to pull an exceptionally long shift it was because there was just too freaking much happening to get it done.

An extra-long shift with nothing happening - and with no one else around, could be rather bad.

I know I'd probably finish a couple of books, straighten every one of my files, listen to music - loud, and drink copious amounts of tea.

By the time I got out of there I'd probably be right wired!

Well I wasn't on chat so I don't know if you were on, but man, if your ever bored get on CPF Chat!!!! There are some funny people there. A lot of them have a lot of flashaholic experience, are excellent modders... etc.

Not only can you learn a lot of CPF chat, but you can have a ton of fun! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Computer Programmer. I'm supporting my company in coverage of the CA elections (don't ask for info on it for another 10-20 minute, or better yet, just watch the news). I worote a totally automated program that deals with the elections results. Note the "totally automated" part. I'm here just in case the program crashes, and they need it fixed. I have a workstation all ready to go. Of course, in 2 years of elections, plus all the simulations (2x/week for the last 3 months) there has never been a software failure makes this highly unlikely. But they want me here. We'll be done with coverage agound 9:00am tomorrow am Pacific time, which is Noon EST where I am. I've been at work since 1000 est

We switch to the backup data feed, which is slightly slower. Hit the 2 buttons again, we switch back. I could automate that too, but the powers that be decided they want that to be a manual process

We did get a few feature requests for the client program (another part of the entire system). That will take about 3 hours the on Friday or Monday. New screen was coded with an incomplete spec, and we're getting, "it doesn't auto refresh when you switch away and come back" My reply - well, if you told me you wanted it to do that, it would, but you didn't

DieselDave, I'm sorry to say that a small 600X600 pixel version of that was posted in one of the CPF forums within the past week - it is, after-all, October, and Halloween is coming up shortly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
