"Thanks to a built in TV tuner, you'll be able to record TV programmes to the 120GB hard disk or to a DVD-R."

Assuming Sony doesn't cripple the recording capability, the PSX is my next big gadget purchase!!

"Sony will release a new PlayStation®2-based entertainment system, with TV recording and Hard Disc recording capabilities. Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi made the announcement at a high-level strategic meeting recently. This will integrate elements from gaming and electronics, uniting advanced semiconductor process technology and real time OS from the game sector with extremely fast DVD/HDD recorders. It's not 'PS3' or a new type of console. But it'll play DVDs, DVD-Rs, PS2 and PS one games, and even records to a hard disk and DVD!..."

Yes, but did you hear the estimated street price?
Its something so outrageous, I don't know if they will sell any.
I can't remember what I saw offhand....
I just remember being shocked.

From Playstation Extreme

For starters, there will be two models of the PSX; one that costs $725 and comes with a 160GB HDD, and another that costs $906 and comes with a 250GB HDD.

This isn't where I originally found the info, but its what came up when I searched. That's about what I heard the first time...

Motley Fool on the PSX:

http://www.fool.com/News/mft/2003/mft03100713.htm

"Set for release in Japan this year, then Europe and the U.S., the PSX combines a PlayStation 2 game system -- and its ability to play both next-generation online games and original PlayStation titles -- with a television tuner and video recording system, DVD player/recorder, and more"

Sounds like Sony is betting some big change on the PVR (personal video recorder) as the next big thing. Keep track at:
