Has anyone ever smoked a module in a G2 from heat? I have been running a potted nailbender xp-g at 1.4 amps for a few months now with a nitrolon bezel, with no problems. I have set it down, and ran an AW 2900 until darn near dead. Dave said it wouldn't be a problem either. I could easily find 100 post saying it will burn up your module. Whats the deal? Wives tale maybe?

good to know. keep us posted on this.
I think many CPF members tend to be overly cautious IMO
Im probably the opposite and a bit too cavalier with my lights.

how did you get 18650 to fit in yer G2?
I didnt know they were "bore-able"

Yeah, that 2900 is poking my eyes as well... how do you achieve that in G2 ???

As for G2 thermal conductivity, I've been running M61 in G2Z body with aluminum bezel (Solarforce from L2P) on high with 2xCR123 and no issues (from turn on to depleted batteries, cave exploring)...

someone in my family left on a G2Z with a single mode NB P4 high CRI drop-in. driven at 1 amp.
it was using an AW 17670 li-ion

i dont know what really happened, cause i was out of town.
but the battery was dead. so im assuming it was left on.

the center of the LED appears to have a brown spot now, burned or too much heat is what im guessing.
the drop-in still works, but is only putting out about half the lumens.

before it was well brighter than my HDS high CRI clicky rated at 100 lumens.
and now its not.

That is interesting. I really wish You knew for certain what happened. Was it thermally potted?

That is still classified. I got sick and tired of people saying it could not be done, so I did it. I have been thinking about starting an interest thread, but I have a lot on my plate right now.
