I am looking to pull the trigger on an single-LED XM-L thrower, and would like your input. I want one that is driven hard (at least ~2.5A) to get the most out of the XM-L, is (single 18650), and that has a neutral option.

Two on the top of my list so far are the Deree DBS and 4Sevens Maelstrom X7. Of course I am open to any other major contenders you would like to recommend.

Dereelight DBS Pros:
  • Inexpensive
  • Easily Upgradeable
  • Multiple tint options
  • Mulitple reflector options
  • Driven well (2.5A)
4Sevens Maelstrom Pros:
  • Compact
  • 4Sevens Consistent Quality
  • Great Customer Service
Thanks in advance for your input!

would you consider going up to 2-18650s?

If so there are some monster throwers that will also give you good run-time. With a super thrower and only 1- 18650, i would worry about pulling that much out of a single cell and run-time would probably not be too good.

just asking

My four best throw lights are in this order. Olight M3X using two 18650 or either 3 or 4 CR123 batteries. Fenix TK41 using 8 AA batteries. Jetbeam BC40 uses two 18650 or 4 CR123s. Shiningbeam Blaze using a 18650 or two CR123s. This is the surprise light for me as I wasn't expecting much throw but it throws better than my Olight M20s Warrior.

um did't OP say "single 18650" :duh2:

He does now. Not sure if this is what he edited or not but the first part of his post said a single LED XM-L thrower. I took that as a single LED and not a multiple LED light like some of the Eagletac or Fenix lights.

In fact, read the title of this thread. Best Single-LED XM-L Thrower. Doesn't say anything about a single 18650 in the title. Ease up a little.

a Direct Driven p60 module with smooth reflector
~4amps on a good cell
L2P or nicer host.
maybe big finned head for some cooling

the DD pill in a DBS would be impressive

I have the Ultrafire XM-L 3-mode (DD in High) in a SMO DBS and it is pretty impressive...
