I have always wanted a variable (or just slow) strobe. The Nextorch looks like a winner.
Over here in Australia the cyclists tend to use flashing white fauxtions on the front of the bike, which is particularly handy at dusk or in places with plenty of street lighting. The strobe is not used to see in the dark, just better at alerting cars, getting noticed more than a static light (when there are lots of other static lights around from street lights, shops, etc...)
However when you venture away from these areas or it gets darker it would be handy to change over to a full-on light to see better. So one light to do both jobs.
Many of the current lights with strobe, the strobe is too fast and a waste. They also tend to only strobe in high - which is too bright on high powered flashlights.
So a flashlight which I can set to a slower strobe on medium but have the ability to run high with no strobe when needed, would be very handy, for cycling. On many dedicated high power bike lights, some have strobe but its too fast and too bright.
There seems to be a lack of programmable (strobe) lights in the small-medium tactical size - bike size.
