Drop in 6p w/ one AW IMR 18650 (80-100 lumens w/ long run time) M61LL or M61LL 219?

I have looked through so many threads my head hurts and I'm still not sure if I have seen the answer I seek.

I am running a standard P60L now and was wondering if I could find something that might run longer. I use this light as a EDC at work and out at night around town. I don't necessarily need maximum throw, etc. Not sure if I really even need to change.

Thanks!!!

An 18650 will not fit in your stock 6P body. You could use a 17670. And you do not need IMR chemistry. A lithium-ion AW 17670 will be just fine for most P60 drop-ins (except triple leds).

Suggest you do a bit more reading about Li-Ion battery care if you go this route however. :)

Don't worry about it brother, all your answers will come in time. I felt the same way! 18650= 18mm diameter, 65mm long and not sure about the 0. So an 18650 is the same length as two Cr123's in series but thicker so it won't fit in a 6P unless you bore it out. A 17670 may fit just fine, although w/ shorter run time (one reason guys run 18650's). As for the drop-in, I'd recommend Malkoff devices M61LL(low low lumens) or M61WLL(warm tint low low lumens). Both have about 10 hours full output and useful dimming after that. Check out they're website or give them a call, you may even get to talk to Gene himself!:twothumbs

If I am reading this correctly, then you are using an AW IMR 18650 battery. I would switch to a regular AW or Redilast 18650 battery with a higher capacity. The IMR don't have as much capacity.

I would highly recommend any of the Malkoff M61L or M61LL drop ins. My personal preference is of the M61LHCRI! Beautiful tint and long run time.

Sorry guys the 6p in question was bored by overready and I have a Pila Charger. I am running AW IMR 18650 batteries as I had read that they were somewhat more safe or stable.

To address the more capacity issue The first battery has been in the light several months. I just change the battery and recharged the first one.

I was thinking that most would suggest one of the malkoffs.

The malkoff m61LL, along with your bored 6p body, is probably the most versatile and reliable setup for what you're looking for. That setup can run a single 17670, 18650, two 16340 (aka rcr123), two 18350, or two cr123 primaries. As for the run time, I think you would get a drastically longer run time by going with something like AW 18650 protected li-ion. The max capacity of that cell is 2900mAh vs the 18650 IMR cell that has 1600mAh. That's 80% more capacity. It's true that the IMR cell is safer to run but the li-ion cell does have protection circuitry and so does malkoff so there's not too much to worry about. But if you do want ultimate battery safety and reliability then you should stick with cr123 primaries.

Still haven't gotten this drop in but now I have to do something. One of my P60L is terribly dim.

I have it narrowed down to the M61LL or the new M61LL 219. Cost on the 219 version would run me about $15 or $16 more with the shipping.

Tint of the 219 HiCRI is just plain awesome to my eyes. The XPG will slightly edge the 219 on runtime and brightness. You cant go wrong either way.
