I'm looking for a light that will use either one 18650 or one or two AA NiMh batteries. Maybe a extra body tube to make use of either work. Thanks.

nope, the one setup will kill the other one.

Also it does not make sense, alone the cost of a useful Charger for AA is this much higher, than purchasing the whole 18650 setup is cheaper.

When 1*AA is involved, get a light that can also run with an 14500 Li-Ion.
Power of one of these equals the power of one Ni-Mh AA, so You are better off in that size class

Solarforce has what you want, sort of. Get a low voltage drop-in, an 18650 body with tailcap,
and a 2AA body with tailcap.

More specifically, the L2R is the light you want for this, and an additional 18650 body as well. You can Lego the head, drop-in, and tail cap between the two bodies.

You'll need a 'low voltage' module, in the .9 - 4.2 volt range to be able to use either 2xAA or 1x18650.

My Maglite 2D will use either two 18650's or six AA cells (in two "3AA to D" series adaptors).

It is fitted with a Fusion 36 LED showerhead dropin ... Brilliant.

My Solarfoce L2i's use either one 18650 or three AAA cells ... I use the 18650's as they last a lot longer.

Nearly but not quite what you asked about; the Zebralight SC80 will take either an AA or an RCR123A or a 14500 or an RC123A...

Two more "not quite what you asked for", but may be of interest:

The Romisen RCN3 will take 1 x CR123 (or 16340*) or 2 x AA (NiMh, etc.) with the supplied extension tube.
The Romisen RCA5 will take 1 x CR123 (or 16340*) or 1 x AA (NiMh, etc.) with the supplied extension tube.

*(May, or may not be officially sanctioned by the manufacturer, I'm not sure, but several sources mention it seems OK.)
