polytac VS. polytac HP

I'm looking to upgrade from my Dealextreme Ultrafire WF-504B's on my shotgun and AK to something I trust a bit under recoil I can't decide between the polytac or the polytac HP how much further does the HP model reach? how do the runtimes compare? I will be purchasing 2 of them to be permanently mounted to these weapons for defensive purposes and possible coyote hunting down the road. if anyone has experience with both it would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to know if a protected 17670 battery will fit in this light (already have a charger I use on RCR123 and 18650's)

I've had the polytac HP since last summer. It throws great. It might take up a bit more pocket space than the polytac. that larger bevel gives it a great beam. I've only used cr123s in it, no rechargables
