Those look like the squeeze lights that Countycomm was selling 20 of for $20.00. They're out of them now, but they have a new one (non squeeze) that has a slide on-off switch. See www.countycomm.com if you want some.

As for the brightness, those lights are all pretty much the same. They will vary a little bit by luck, and also they will be at their brightest during the first minute or so of operation on a new set of batteries. If you're comparing a week-old Photon II that you've already run for a few minutes against a brand new other light which has had no runtime at all, the new light will be noticibly brighter.

the dollar lights are a good deal.
cant justify even replacing the batts at that price.
yank the led and toss when it runs down.
