why not use U2 over t6??

why do all new torches coming out use the xm-l t6 over the xml U2?? the U2 is 7%+ brighter than the t6.... something to do with power consumption??

I think it's down to a matter of price and availability.
Only a limited number of XM-L's would fall into the U2 luminous efficacy bin, and so they would be more difficult to obtain than lower level bins like T6 or T5. And as a result the higher output binned emitters are more expensive.
