lol... that poor guy probably will have to move to Florida. I feel pretty sorry for him. It appeared he had no idea Alou was coming up beneath him to catch it, and he appeared to be completely miserable afterward. His friends will no doubt give him hell tomorrow.
Security was on hand immediately after the incident, no doubt to protect him, but I doubt that is a serious possibility for Cubs fans. They are usually a pretty even tempered lot, used to seeing bad things happen to their team.
Geez -- I feel sorry for the guy too. Just as the article says, the ball was IN the stands. Sure the guy is a little ignorant and perhaps Alou would have caught it, but who cares? That one play will NOT be what costs the cubbies the penant. That's a ridiculous statement made by those who are frustrated with the crappy performance of the pitching late last night. People get way too wrapped up in this stuff. It's just a friggin' baseball game.
The fan that made contact is an unlucky schmuck. Had the ball been closer to the plate there could have been a different schmuck in the news. Of course I am positive that the other folks criticizing the unlucky schmuck would have created a space to allow Alou to get the ball.
I have to agree with Luke, it is just a game. Yet people think this nations independence is balanced on the outcome of a game.
Finally saw the high light, now that's a deer in the head light!
The Chicago Sun-Times published that man's name, address, and place of employment in today's edition. He is reported to be a lifelong Cubs fan. I believe it would be smart for him to leave Chicago until after the World Series.
It was a dirty thing to do, but I bet fans in the first couple of rows at Wrigley might have that on their minds when a fly ball is coming in their direction tonight.
well some place in pompano offered him 3 months a free time to stay down there.lol id be there for sure if i was him lets see fl sunshine or chacgo winters. big decsion lol.plus theyll love him in fla he is hated in chicago.
Alas, fate did not smile on that hapless fan tonight, as the Cubs went down in flames. As a lifelong Cubs fan, I honestly feel worse for that poor guy right now than I do about the Cubs not being in the World Series. (After all, that is something I am used to. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
Well, there's always next year.
Then again, that's been said since 1945. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
yes... status quo feels so comfortable, somehow. I mean, if the Cubs were in the world series, I'm not even sure I would know how to act. Maybe I could study some film of Yankees fans or get some tips from some NY CPF members. But it's easier this way. I have decades of experience with this.
I have not seen one. It was a fairly routine goof though... the fan was looking up the whole time, and never saw Alou approaching. Next time Alou needs to "call it" so the fans know he has the play. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowlaugh.gif
