I've got a Dinotte bike light that has a two cell 18650 7.4v li-ion battery pack. The battery won't charge any longer so I've purchased a matching generic Tenergy two cell li-ion battery with PCB. As a test before soldering I alligator clipped the new battery to the charger and the green light turned red so figured that was a good start. I then soldered the battery leads to the Dinotte cord. Here's where the trouble starts... I couldn't tell which was positive and which was negative on the cord so I just assumed black was neg and white was pos. When I plug the battery in to the charger using the newly soldered cord the light on the charger just stays green. When the battery is plugged into the light there is no sign of life either.

My question is whether or not any permanent damage is done to the battery/pcb if you accidentally swap the neg and pos leads and then hook up to a charger. Any suggestions on what would be a reasonable next step?
