Subject: TARGET STOREs Vietnam Veterans Association By **** Forrey

We asked our local Target store to be a sponsor of
the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring
recognition event. We received back a reply from Target management that "veterans
do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the areas of the arts, social
actions, gay and lesbian causes, and education."

My thought: If the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general, do not
meet their donation criteria, something is wrong at Target. We were not asking for
thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, but simply sponsorship of an endorsement
for a memorial remembrance.

As follow-up, I E-mailed the corporate headquarters and their response was the
same.

Personally, I will NOT be purchasing anything at Target Stores again. If the
Vietnam Veteran or Veterans in general do not meet their area of giving, then why
should I, as a Vietnam veteran, spend my hard earned money in their stores?

Target will also not allow the Marines to collect for "Toys For Tots" during the
holidays.

TARGET IS FRENCH OWNED: WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT.

Please pass this on to as many people as you know.

Sincerely,
Veterans Helping Veterans

Re: VIETNAM VETERANS & Target Stores [URBAN LEGEND]

Same kind of hoax as the Killeen (Ft. Hood) Red Lobster fiasco...people didn't eat there for a long time afterwards and I still occasionaly here about it.

Some people just like to mess things up for businesses I guess.

The "I emailed..." verbiage is part of the text of the hoax message.

See the link I referred to.

Jason, I want to hear more about the Red Lobster hoax thing, that sounds like it must have been a good story /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Even if it was just urban legend /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh, thats no good. I wanted something disgusting in the way of bad food /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like the opposite of the "anything that is too good to be true probably is" is also true...

James--You mean to say that Red Lobster doesn't have bad food? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The internet proves to be more of a spreader of rumor and deciet than that kind old lady Mabel that likes to talk a lot in the beauty parlor. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

I just received an e-mail (as one of about 25 addressees in the headers) with this hoax attached.

I sent a copy of the official VFW press release from last December debunking it to the entire list, and a bit of additional 'info' to my friend who sent it out without checking first. She apologized quite quickly as she's a vet and her husband's a disabled vet.
