What to do with CR-V3 batteries?

Hi,

I have a few boxes of these CR-V3 batteries. Sold the digital camera back in the day so these batteries are
just sitting there. They expire 2011 but so far they still are good.

I've tried seperating them to use as AA in several flashlights but the batteries get very hot and the circuit
in the retail flashlights don't work properly. Not to mention they are ugly and sticky when seperating them.
Mainly, they get hot and that's the issue.

Only luck so far is a Dorcy 4 AA flashlight but not sure how they will do in the long run.

Any ideas on a flashlight build or what do with these? Safety is #1. I'm not sure why they get so hot though
other than the led/circuit is drawing more current then the batteries can handle yet a normal AA would work.

Thanks for any suggestions.
