I need a remote switch for my weapon light (tactical rifle). The switch cord comes in either coil or straight. Which is preferred, and why?

Thanks in advance. Jake.

I understand that coiled cables have significantly increased resistance over 'straight' cables, which is inefficient and could result in heating and strain the batteries etc.

Another issue is that coiled cables could be more prone to snagging whereas a straight cable is easier to tidy/secure.

For a fixed application, I would go with straight. It gives it more of a "streamlined" look. The coiled is mainly for something that is going to need stretched from time to time.
