Having a dremel tool really opens up the possibilities.

I recently just received some TL lamps from www.flashlightlens.com (Thanks!). While thinking about the superbulb groupbuy, and how the plastic mag reflectors won't be able to hold up to the heat generated from the high powered bulbs I saw the TL lamps from the corner of my eye....

Next thing you know I was dremeling away at the TL lamp, and this was the result.

Did I mention it fits?

Anyway, informal testing with a 5 cell magnum star bulb on 3 123 cells shows that the stock mag reflector throws further than the TL reflector.

Lux meter readings using these reflectors and a 5W HD (~660ma) also confirms this.

It could be due to the texturing on the reflector or the shape itself...

YC,

That is an excellent idea! So excellent that I tried to do that a few months ago as well. I found that I needed to grind down a lip around the wide end of reflector to make it drop in. Other than that, it's cheap and easy.

Good work!
