Small tactical light that can switch from High > Med > Low to Low > Med >High?

I have a female friend who now has a stalker. One thing she's going to get is a BRIGHT flashlight. She will carry it more if it has settings most likely (the easier to use the better.

I'm leaning towards Jetbeam with a single 123A since it has the control ring, but maybe there are better ones out there now?

I have a couple Quarks, but their tactical series would only allow 2 settings. The standard would always start off in moonlight. What suggestions do you have?

Buy her a gun not a flashlight.

+1 on what igoman said, but as far as the settings go the JB RRT-0 or the Surefire U2 would work. If anything stay with your lady friend and beat the crap out of the stalker when you see him.

Buy a bright flashlight from a B+M store,no need for the stalker dramatics,be a decent guy and escort her home and call the cops to deal with the fella as I presume you do not want to be her knight in shining armour.Or better still like the others say buy her a handgun as a torch is no flaming use to her apart from seeing where she is going.

Think about it and you could really write a good novel with this.

Wouldn't it start on Max if you tightened the bezel?

Buy her a gun not a flashlight.

This, if you haven't already considered it. Get her something she can defend herself with, and get her some training for it--then worry about the flashlight. Take her to a decent shooting range, and they should be able to help her with all of this. We're off-topic here, so for online assistance and advice, go to firearms forums such as http://www.thehighroad.org/ (I'm on there, too, as Manco) if you haven't already. Guns are not the only option available, but they are effective. Good luck with this situation. Sometimes it's nothing serious, and other times people can end up rape or murder victims because of it.

The police should definitely be notified if the situation seems serious, but the most they can do is talk to the guy and hope that he gets the message and stops. There is not much more they can do in most cases if the stalker is undeterred, and they're not going to provide personal protection 24/7.

Troll thread! Seriously, you have a female friend with a stalker. If you are any kind of friend go sort this clown out yourself and be done with it.

I had to deal with a guy like that for my sister. If you are man enough you can put a lot of fear into another person, even if they are bigger than you. You need to make them understand that any threats that come out of your mouth will be followed up by immediate and forceful action should the stalking continue.

Take her to some Krav Maga classes. Much more helpful than a flashlight.

She is a classmate of mine from school. We've both sense graduated. She lives 2 hours away from me and has a husband. They are looking into purchasing their first firearm. She lives in IL which she can't legally carry a firearm in. Cook County as well.

She will probably put in for her FOID card. She can't even buy a gun before that arrives.

That's the legal way anyways if she goes that way. If she finds a quicker alternative way she might go that way too. I'm not her or her husband.

They are going to replace all exterior door screws with much longer ones including the dead bolts. They will also be installing one of 3 styles of anti kick in technologies for their exterior doors and using door jamb armor. 3M anti break film will go around windows that could be easy to get into from the outside on the first floor. They put up motion activated lights and with tax returns their going to get some surveillance cameras installed.

So far she's had her house vandalized, tires slashed 2x, and been followed to where she works out.

I've been helping them as they didn't know many of these things existed, just like the small light cannons I like to carry along with a knife/firearm usually. Her son lives in FL and has a CCW and is trying to get her to purchase a firearm as well, but there are other things that need to be addressed rather then just the gun, which legally takes some time to get started in IL anyways.

Just hang outside the house and wait. Eventually you'll get the chance to whack him.
It's an easy job.

He lives 2 hours away, and she's an old school chum, not a loved one, etc...and has a hubby, etc. He's just suggesting defensive moves shoe could make to improve survivability.

I'd go Klarus XT11, comes on in high, but can dim down to 10 lumens, has one touch strobe with no scrolling.

Pepper spray and a pocket siren alarm may be an option.

Walking with the phone set to 911 so one touch dials is good too.

[h=5]Elzetta Tactical Weapon Light, 2 cell with Strike Benzel and High/Low Click Switch[/h]Quality Light, small, bright, no mods needed. Tactical Gear Group has good price for this light and fast shipping.

One of these is various self-defense classes. Look for ones that emphasize real-world survivability. Among other things she should have:

1. Prepared mindset. Without this, no gadget is going to help and anyone could sneak up on you.
2. Willingness to resist.
3. Training and practice in resisting. Things like rolled magazines, keys, and umbrellas can be useful here. Have you ever been 'stabbed' with a rolled magazine? It hurts.

That said: A control ring flashlight should work. I think the Quark Regulars start in moonlight when loose or Max when tightened. GoingGear may still have them on sale.

First of all.

For the moment I would say the brightest single-output flashlight that you can get. No multi-mode, no control rings. ..

Personally I would recommend a Surefire G2X Tactical as it has a 200 lumen beam which is way more than enough and reaches very far which will stop at distance.

The beam pattern is narrow with a very small hot-spot which will focus light directly specifically where you want it e.g the eyes

And the control system is more applicable for gross motor skills under high stress, since both fine and complex motor skills (not the same skills) begin to detoriate from 115 beats per minute for fine and 145 beats per minute for complex.

The only real downside is to make sure that the light is carried properly on her person where it can be easily accessed (not in a handbag), it is kept in the same place all time to enhance muscle memory under stress and the switch is not activated accidentally as the light does get bloody hot.
