So Sellout.woot.com had this thing up for $100. I have been doing some low light shooting and thought this could help supplement my Sony Nightshot for IR video capture.
It showed up last weekend and it is HUGE!!! Like Surefire Beast huge.
I will need to take some beam shot pics. The hot spot is really tight, almost unusable. Also the LEDs can be switched to 75% and 50% but the output difference is negligible. It boasts 85,000 candlepower but I have read that it is 180 lumens. Not a blinding amount of light.
The IR leds produce a giant wall of light. There are 60 880 nm leds. I have to test it to see what the distance it carries.
The whole system is powered by a 4 cell (look like d-cell size) 4.8v 900mah Ni-MH battery.
more to come.
