The 2011 catalogue lists this new model, but it's absent in the 2012 catalog.

Did Surefire dump this model before it even began?

I was really looking forward to this particular model. Could anyone provide some info on what's going on?

x300 ultra

I downloaded the med res from Surefire, and here is my take.
Surefire has found/embraced the xm-l, and hence the x300 ultra
Double the light, and more/less the same candela 12,800 vs. 13,000
So I doubt that the X300 will see the light of day.

Re: x300 ultra

IMHO, the X300 Compact is a completely useless design. Marginally slimmer and lighter. Same size bezel and length. Same output with less runtime. No advantages.

SF tends to show potential lights and some never get released for various reasons. See UA2, UB2, LX1, etc.

Re: x300 ultra

I think the fact that is the x300 required a remote grip switch to operate is what killed it. Add the weight of that, and it was equal to the fullsize x300.
