They don't have any protection. After all, this is a pretty small cell so there is not much space for a PCB. The highest mode is quite sensitive to a decreasing battery voltage, so you should notice in time, when it's time to charge your cells. I usually charge my batteries whenever I used the light for more than a few minutes or at least when there is no more difference between the highest and the medium mode. This has worked out for the last two years.

Runtime is about 15min on high and 1:30h on medium. Never checked at the lowest output. These batteries are so small and cheap that you can always have several spare-batteries with you.


I have been doing exactly the same thing on my QMini's for a long time. I purchased a batch of these cells and keep them topped up by charging them regularly. The capacity is nowhere near the one written on them but the general performance is very good.
