Defective Novatac 120E or defective user?

I'm getting intermittent response on a single click of my new 120E. Sometimes it turns on, sometimes not. Could just be how I'm clicking I suppose. But more irksome is the random behavior of 2 clicks then hold, which should yield 120 max if I understand correctly. What I get is a weird miniramp of what looks like 3 levels, then power seems to cut out for a split second, then comes back on, brighter than default, but not brighter than momentary full power.

I tried a factory reset, battery reset, different (standard) battery. Nothing changes. Am I doing something wrong?

It sounds like the switch to me. Have you tried taking the switch off & jumping the body & battery with a paper clip? Let us know what happens.

I removed the end cap and shorted the body with a paperclip, and the light works; I'm not sure how to replicate a click/hold with just a paperclip.
