I just got the ElectroLumens Big Bruiser tonight, so I took some quick outdoor shots with it. I was SUPPOSED to be getting groceries, so I had to actually get the groceries too...so this was a Stealth Beam Shot Trip.

I apologize for the quality of the pics, its a point and shoot that I can't set the shutter speed, etc, on.

I did use a tripod for it, and let it take the pics at whatever shutter speed/aperture its little point and shoot brain wanted to. The pics look darker than the scenes did in real life, but, the basic coverage was at least proportional. Imagine everything is twice as bright as the pics look, and it will be about right.

Reader's Digest Version - It is a FLOOD LIGHT.

Flash Control Shot - Looking Down Transmission Line Right of Way. Note the reflector on the Transmission
Tower - All the towers have them, and, even the camera flash makes all of them reflect light back, marking the tower locations.

Same location, but shooting the other way down the ROW:

For Scale - The first telephone pole is 55' from the light. The poles down the line are 73 meters apart from each other.

The fence ~ half way between the first transmission tower than the first telephone pole is 77 meter from the light.

The first tower is 113 meters from the light.

The second tower is 405 meters from the light.

The third tower is 624 meters from the light.

The fourth tower is 843 meters from the light.

Big Bruiser (Note the Deer in the background...) The first telephone pole, 55 meters from the light, is well lit, but not the second, but you can see some deer between the first and second poles.
You can see the reflectors on the towers all bouncing back to us, way down the row, and there is diffuse lighting of the 1st and second transmssion towers. You can see the fence in real life, faintly.
The deer are RIGHT in front of the fence, which is 77 meters from the light. (The fence is on the Left side of the Right of Way path)

S18 - I could see about 6 poles, and there was illumination of 3 towers. There was too much haze in the air to
tell if the 4th would have been visible or not, but again, all the reflectors are bouncing. The deer ran for their lives, the light goes waaay past where the fence is, but, the pic doesn't show it.
In real life, you could see it just to the left of what you can see in the pic.

SR90 - I could see 8 telephone poles, again the haze made it tought to resolve further, but I could see the 3rd
Tower easily, and there was light on the 4th. The beam is right down the path.

SR90 Aimed at the Moon - the bean is very distinct in the hazy air.

S18 Aimed at the Moon - the beam is more diffused by the haze.

Big Bruiser Aimed at the Moon - There was just a glow in the air...a dome of light.

These are the only shots I have the distance for (I can google earth the towers later...).

Its 10 M to the post, and 20 M to the trees:

I feel better then, I was worried the camera would "compensate" for the lighting, and make all the shots too similar by just exposing the darker ones more, etc....but I think it was already at its slowest shutter speed/widest aperture, etc.

The pics were not as sharp as I'd have liked...even with the tripod, just pushing the shutter button was too much movement...in hind sight, I could have used the timer...but didn't think of it until today.

I'll have the Google Earth measurements to give some scale later on.

OK, I added some notes to the second power line right of way view pics, to give scale....essentially, the telephone poles are 73 meters apart, all the way down the row. The FIRST telephone pole you can see is 55 meters from the light.

That first fence is 77 meters from the light, and that first transmission tower is 113 meters from the light.

The second Transmission Tower is 405 meters from the light.

(See the notes with the pics for more details)

I love your "Stealth Beam Shots". How much extra time did it took you? Dinner must have been cold by the time you reach home. Haha..

Yeah, basically.

I think the ones above took less than an hour including the rerouting to get to the site instead of where I was supposed to be.

Its mostly about time and opportunity....I typically leave the lights and camera in the car, but I need to also leave the tripod too, etc.
