I would like to know if anyone knows about available carriers for spheres

I just bought an 18mm trit sphere from b@rt

I would love to get a Luce de Notte from Fred

or maybe some sort of carrier for the sphere

I was thinking a nice decorative item with a loop for chain or cord to hang

I remember someone here on cpf had a sphere carrier made from silver with decorative holes cutout

maybe someone here can knock up a clear acrilic one or any other ideas pics links etc welcome

thanks Jason

A Jordan Metal Art CUBE sure would make a sweet sphere holder but its a single piece
I stuck mine in Mag head but its not very carry-able
A cage that mimics a GatLight body could be sweet

gollum, I have a few ideas/designs in the works. I'll be touch when I get further along.
I've got two 18mm trit spheres that I've been messing around with. Now that I have 2 running lathes and a mill I can actually move forward.
Seeing your post has renewed my interest in the project. One of the ideas is based on a prototype, I made a while back but never refined.

nein166, there are some elements of the gatlight in one of the designs.....we'll see how it turns out.

On a side note, heres a few brass skulls I made a few months ago.
The large one houses an 11mm trit sphere that shines through the nose. I had planned to put two 1.5x5mm trit vials in the eyes instead of milling holes. It was modeled after the terminator skull
The brass was roughed to approximate size and then slowly files to thier final shape and finished with an hand sanding. The teeth were made using a custom made chissel.
Probably close to 65 hours total to make the three of these. I never knew I could do this! The one on the keys was my first followed by the medium sized one and finally the large.
If I had 2x11mm trits, I would have used them for the bird skull eyes.

Love the skulls. I thought s skull with a way to hang it on my rear view mirror would be cool.

I have a Jack Skellington skull that I'm toying with installing a sphere in but not sure how bright it would be.

nein166 I'll have to check out the jordan metal art cube thanks

LaunchMini G'day mate hows it going?
thanks for the Kack Skellington ref, I'll have a look later.

DaFabricata ... thanks for your information
I look forward to your creations

your skulls are very good
I make skulls and knives

I never thought I could end up making them like I do now

I started with basic flat shaped zip pull ones from damascus
then I started making more lifelike and stylized as I developed
the more i made them the easier and faster it became (within reason of course)
I recently I make some larger ones aswell from Brass

made a lot of these mokume ones they are quite nice and everyone likes them

I don't have access to lathes or mills
I just have a drill press and linisher
everything else is hand finished

anyhow ... my thoughts were

a sphere with a loop for cord or neckchain
threaded opening (either half way or an opening to fit an 18mm sphere inside)
and lots of holes or windows, maybe even more trit slots aswell around the outside for 5.5mm x 1.5 trits.
or also some machining to give a (Jeff Hanko)3D style effect using 1 or 2 or 3... 4 6 trits
a flat base for nightstand aswell
I was originally thinking of acrylic or perspex but brass stainless would be nicer

Might as well chuck mine up (warning: crappy picture ahead):

18 mm sphere, whole thing is titanium, both the holder and the chain.

nice one Th232
thanks for showing

any more details?

Thanks, not much to say really. 54 mm high and ~28 wide. Royal pain to make, actually my first project in titanium. Pic makes it look better than it actually is, the spindle speed on my mill means the surface finish of the slot walls isn't the best in some places. Should've done more passes.
