I was in Micro Center earlier today and I was looking at the Swiss+Tech Auto 12 Volt Flashlight. The single review on Amazon is not favorable. I am wondering if anybody here has tried one of these. It sounds like Swiss+Tech generally receives favorable reviews on its other products.

It depends on the size of your cigarette lighter socket. Some fit tighter and some fit looser depending on model type. For example, 12v power sockets (meant for charging stuff-no cigarette lighter part) are larger and a flashlight like this one doesn't fit tight. I think this one comes with an adapter to make it fit tighter. Maybe that's what makes it get stuck in the socket for the Amazon person. Maybe he is using the adapter and shouldn't be? Not sure, he doesn't say. I have one and have never gotten it stuck.

So, is the light worth $10?
Get a LSD NiMH or an Energizer Lithium and a cheapie 1xAA light for $5 and you've got almost the same functionality with greater reliability. If it won't fit in your socket, it won't charge, and if it's too snug, they break. Finally, I've had similar lights that overcharge the cells if left charging too long, and kill the cells if the side-click switch is lightly pressed while in a glove box.
