i have an aspherical xml u2 thrower i made. i have read that i will see a lumen loss of 30%. wich i am fine with because i really dont need about the 900 lumens it puts out. i however do want the absolut most throw and tightest beam possible. so if i de dome my xml u2 is there anything else i should be worried about? i remember seeing something about issues with heat. also how do i actually de dome the led without ruining the die. thanks,

It's tough to de-dome the Crees properly. If you tear the gel, then it will fuzz out the LED, decreasing the bonuses and increasing the lumen penalty. Unfortunately, the only way to be sure is to practice. The XM-L is not the best choice for ultimate throw.
