so i noticed dx has an infrared wf-502b dropin..

"High Powered 3W InfraRed IR Drop-in Module for WF-502B Style Flashlights (8.4V)
"

Im assuming that i need a different battery style than my current 18650 as voltage is too low with single cell. So what are my options?
Thanks.

That drop-in is for a 2 cell light. 2 Li-ion rechargeables will yield 4.2 x 2 = 8.4 volts. So you need a 2 cell host.

Can someone link me to a wf-502b 2 cell host? google only shows single cell.. Although i see wf-502D looks like a 2 cell as its longer..

What about batteries? i see a rcr123 associated with 18650 alot on other threads. Can i fit 2 of them in a wf-502b? or wont they fit

No, just about every 8.4V drop in I know of will also work with voltages in the 4.2 volt range. Many however will have slightly lower output levels at 4.2V, but you definitely will not damage the module running it off one cell.

So you can definitely continue to use 1x 18650 cell without problems.

You are better off getting a drop in designed for your single cell voltage range. (ebay item # 310302561842 , 130590734674 for example).
