Im new to this and I want to make my own LED flashlight, where do you get all the parts to do so?

the "how-to-make-a-light" sheet You have is outdated for years.
The rebel already was crap when it came out, now it is overdue.

A standard actual led (Cree XP-G comparable to Rebel, Cree XM-L --> more floody) will be more than double as bright but at the same time neeing less power and producing less heat.

Get one of these instead but do all the rest like Your mod instruction tells ...


PS: imho the advise You got is not correct.
As You want the most throw, there are 2 options with the Maglite:
Cree XR-E --> "older" emitter but is said to give the most focused beam, thus "correcting" that it produces less lumen
Cree XP-G --> newest tech and also good for thight beam
Cree XM-L --> brightest of the three, in the big reflector of the mag possibly also good throw.

PS:
1: forget the Rebel
2: search for "aspheric". Thats an option with a D-cell and for throw
